Mr. Tsujimura is self-taught. Incredibly, his art has developed organically in the mountains of Nara, where he lives and works at his established kiln site. He uses local feldspar clay from his local area in Nara, but also clay from the Iga region. His work with light clay and natural ash glazes, which turns into emerald crystals, makes his work unique and easily recognizable. The complexity of the ceramics is layer upon layer. A certain contemporary air is felt, but a connection with the sensibility of the Heian and Momoyama eras is also evident. There is a certain openness and wonderful, spontaneity in the works that invites us all in.
