Mr. Morimoto's work follows a long tradition of firing unglazed, elegant Bizen clay from his region of Okayama. The shapes of his pottery are on the other hand unique, expressive and quickly recognizable. They often appear as contemporary renditions of the design-language of the Momoyama era, especially the styles from the Mino area. There is also a noticeable architectural aspect in the ceramics which gives them a delicate, yet complex expression.
