Originally made for measuring rice in old Japan. Eventually the little Masu cup transformed into a drinking cup and as a pedestal for porcelain sake cups. The freshly cut Cryptomeria wood of this high-quality Masu becomes increasingly aromatic after contact with liquid. It is an elegant fragrance of green cedar that imparts a cleansing and relaxing effect. In interaction with the aromatic wood, we found that particularly mild, dry sake works extremely well. The experience takes sake relaxation to a Spa like ambience.
